Life challenges is a series of live online conversations with non-dual spiritual teachers who are dealing with challenging situations in their own lives. The intention of these conversations is to invite teachers to share their experience and their reflections openly and candidly so that this can serve as a model and teaching to all of us as to how life challenges can be met in an aware and awake way, and how they can serve as teachers.
Previous life challenges conversations have covered loss and grief, cancer, caring for a parent with dementia, presence in the workplace, the essential challenge, chronic dis-ease, and facing depression. You'll find all the topics and videos HERE. |

BOOK CONVERSATION:
Gail Brenner: Suffering is Optional
We were looking at themes from Gail's new book, Suffering is Optional: A spiritual guide to freedom from self-judgment & feelings of inadequacy. The book is a combination of direct path invitation into freedom and detailed inquiry into the conditioned thought and emotions that obscure it. A non-dual self-help book -- if such a thing is possible -- with practical exercises, yet always pointing to our inherent wholeness and freedom.

BOOK CONVERSATION:
Eli Jaxon-Bear: The Awakening of a spiritual revolutionary
This conversation is based on Eli's new book, An Outlaw Makes it Home: The Awakening of a Spiritual Revolutionary. In this deeply personal memoir, he describes his early life and journey of spiritual searching, from the civil rights marches in Alabama to his time as a federal fugitive during the Vietnam War, from the uncharted outback of Peru to a monastery in Japan. It is in India that Eli meets Papaji, ultimately ending his search for freedom and finally finding true love and fulfillment.

About the retreat:
What is it that wakes up: the mind, the heart, or both?
Do heart openings and its aspects (love, joy, celebration, bliss) contribute to awakening,
are they part of awakening, or are they simply a by-product of awakening?
Can heart-centered practices distract us from awakening, as they suggest a need to continue a practice in time
instead of pointing us directly beyond time? Are they caught in a duality of self and other?
What is the place of the heart and of heart-centered practices (if any) after awakening?

About Living from Love:
My intention for all the Living from Love live, online events is
that they be:
a space where Love communicates itself in and through the conversations;
a space that invites all of us to open to and rest in this Love;
a space that brings us together in Truth and Love, and that supports us in integrating these in our own lives.
that they be:

a space that invites all of us to open to and rest in this Love;
a space that brings us together in Truth and Love, and that supports us in integrating these in our own lives.
How can our lives become an expression of the Love that we are?
How is the Love/Truth that is realized in spiritual awakening lived in everyday life?
Are devotional or other heart-opening practices helpful in connecting us with Love,
or are they a distraction from realizing the Love that is always here?
If everything is Love, why is there so much violence and hatred in this world?
These are some of the questions that are answered in the conversations and retreats. The conversations are with teachers and mentors in the nondual spiritual tradition, who have dedicated their lives to the transmission of the reality they have awakened to. They contribute their insights, their answers to these questions, and their own experience of living from Love.
